Guilty Pleasures is by Laurell K. Hamilton. The book is about a women named Anita Blake who is an animator, which means that she can raise the dead (we're talking zombies here). She also is a Vampire Slayer to say the least. In the first book she gets called in by the master vampire of St. Lois, MO.
